Next week Bristol Old Vic’s budding young thesps arrive at the TF to prepare for their end of year production Translations, which opens on Thursday. A twentieth century classic by perhaps Ireland’s foremost living playwright, Translations is a powerful, moving and at times very funny drama about an Irish-speaking community in Donegal at the time when the British Army are making the first Ordnance Survey map of Ireland. You can see some pics of the cast in rehearsal here. BOVTS finalist shows are a brilliant way to see exceptional productions and support one of the country’s foremost actor training centres. See the stars of tomorrow! Here! Next week!
Women!
Are you insecure? Do you feel swamped by life? Would you like to be more assertive? Do you find yourself saying ‘yes’ when you really want to say ‘no’?
If this is you, take yourself along to the Midsomer Norton Community Centre on Monday evenings at 8pm… or alternatively, come and see Felicity Gibson’s brand new play The Self-Help Group, which opens at the Brewery next Wednesday in a double bill with Kurt Cobain’s in My Cupboard, which last year picked up something of a rave review in Venue. An evening of insight, dark humour and revelations is promised… and see both plays on the same night for the bargain price of £12!
What else is new?
Check out the trailer of Whirligig Theatre’s Olympic Gene, which is coming to the TF in July as part of Edinburgh or Bust, our mini season previewing shows heading north of the border this summer. Click here for all of the Edinburgh or Bust shows.
Looking for work? We could be looking for you! Read about current job opportunities at the TF.
And finally… Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory goes to Ireland! First Bristol Old Vic, now Galway… will nothing stop SATTF’s world domination! Click here to read all about the nationally acclaimed company’s tour to Ireland with last year’s much feted production of Uncle Vanya.
